ACIS is currently developing an ultra lightweight high payload gimbal for small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Such gimbals are used in aerial surveying platforms to stabilize cameras and other payloads during flight. This system can be mounted directly to the airframe of a UAV, and due to its central support and pivot point can accommodate heavy payloads while minimizing weight. Yaw, Pitch, and Roll are adjusted through the use of 3 linear actuators. This minimalistic hardware design, coupled with an advanced control algorithm minimizes system weight while maintaining performance.

  • Roll velocity: 30°/sec
  • Yaw velocity: 10°/sec
  • Power requirements: 12 VDC
  • Control signal requirements: 5VDC per stepper motor
